7th Place Finish

For the third season in a row, Prestwich Heys were crowned champions, only having lost only 2 games. East Manchester finished a moderate 7th but was not good enough when compared to the standards set at the start of the campaign. East were 7th at the turn of the year but had the potential to challenge for the title due to games in hand. It was to be the lack of regular players for numerous reasons that restricted East to a disappointing end. East were knocked out of both cup competitions at early stages, to Hollinwood in the County cup and to Atherton Town in the League cup. Darren Green ended up top goalscorer with 17 goals and also clinched the two awards of player’s player and manager’s player of the year. First team manager Dave Mills picked up the prestigious ‘Goon of the Season’ for his comical show of falling in the mud in the building site. The other award went to Lee Berry for Goal of the Season.
