A brace from Danny Williams along with a season first for Adam Stones ensured East Manchester collected all three points. The hosts finished the game with 10 men against AFC Bury at Wright Robinson on Saturday. Skipper Simon Finegan was given his marching orders after he was deemed last man having brought down the striker in the penalty box.
Stones opened the scoring with a looping header from a Jamie Byrne free kick and was followed up minutes later when Danny Williams notched his 17th of the season. The visitors pressed for a goal back in the second half and it came in the form of a penalty and were then to play against a ten-man East for the remainder. The game was killed off as a contest late on in the game as Danny Williams got his second and East's third to give the home side the win and ensured they will be top of the league at the turn of the year.
Both first and second team will be in cup action when the season resumes on the 7th of January. The first team travel to Wythenshawe Town in the Semi Final of the Manchester Challenge Trophy. The second string travel to Leigh Athletic in the second round of the Open Trophy.
The club would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
