East Manchester's second string were the focus of the weekend as they travelled to the home of Manchester Gregorians. The first team fixture at West Didsbury & Chorlton was postponed due to waterlogged pitch so all eyes were on Eric Neild's side at Manchester City's impressive Academy set up.
East were looking for an immediate reaction after last week's 2-0 defeat at home to Old Alts and they almost got it. Mike Peet, who had only been on a few minutes, thought he had earned his side 3 points in the final seconds when he fired in from close range at the third attempt but for the referee to pull him up for offside. The official seemed to have missed the man on the post who played him onside to deny East a late winner.
A clean sheet for Eric Neild's team, their first since the 3-0 Open Trophy win against Salford Vics back in December. The point takes them up a place to 11th, swapping places with Leigh Athletic who went down 3-2 at home West Didsbury & Chorlton.
Next weekend, both clubs take on their league leaders. The reserves play host to Wythenshawe Amateurs whilst Chris Stanley and Mark O'Connor see their second place team travel to Hindsford.
At the top of the Premier Division, Hindsford stretched their lead to three points having played two more than East by beating Walshaw Sports by the odd goal in a five goal thriller. However, East will replace the Tyldesley side at the top of the table if they manage to win by two goals on Saturday and still have two games in hand.
