It was a day of mixed fortunes for the club on Saturday as both teams went head to head with the leaders of their respective divisions.
The second team pulled off a fantastic 4-1 victory at home to Wythenshawe Town. Goals from Jon Chilton, Hazen Gardner and a brace from Charlie McGrath gave Eric Neild’s side the 3 well needed and deserved points.
Chris Stanley and Mark O’Connor’s side travelled to Hindsford being 3 points behind their opponents and looked to go level with a win. However, the gap increased to 6 points as the Tyldesley outfit came away with a 2-0 win despite being reduced to 10 men after 60 minutes. It was the first time they had failed to score in a game since their last defeat in October against Stockport Georgians.
Next weekend sees the first team on their travels again as they take on Heywood St James. The reverse fixture on Bonfire Night produced a 9 goal thriller as East came out winners by the odd goal having led 3-0 earlier in the game. The Saints pulled it back and entered the last few minutes leading 4-3 but East overturned it and ended up winning 5-4.
The reserves don’t have a fixture scheduled as yet but watch this space for any news.
